About Us
Established in 2014, Identity Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization based on the lifelong journey to find our authentic selves or true Identity. We strive to develop approaches and opportunities to help recognize and unlock the strength and beauty within every one of us. We follow the foundational teachings found in indigenous values. Rerspect, Humility, Accountability, Purpose and Balance. We began to develop our approach between 2006-2014 while working in suicide prevention and youth development. The experience of helping people going through difficult situations we realize as humans, we rarely recognize the positive or strength within ourselves. These ups and downs of life can either make us or break us, but finding that balance to get through and grow became a direction we chose. We started to uplift people and acknowledge their skills, strength, and beauty through various initiatves that became the foundation of our work. We emphasize a resiliency movement through a mindset of love and positivity of self where passion and expression is encouraged. That’s what we want with Identity Inc. and that is at the heart of our Mission statement:
To promote positive energy within ourselves, our people, and our world.
The Montana Indian Athletic Hall of Fame became the cornerstone of our work, predating the creation of Identity Inc. as our first induction was in 2007. Since then, we have held 10 ceremonies that continue to grow in size and support as we celebrate our athletic excellence and bring acknowledgment to many. Storytelling of warrior deeds is central to our tribal identity. in the contemporary setting, the lore surrounding many Native athletes and teams permeates sports conversations far and wide no matter where you are from in Montana. Montana is a “small town” where respect is given to each other through the competitive fields of play – hence the Montana Indian Athletic Hall of Fame (MIAHOF) has become a juggernaut of athletic recognition within our great state as it was intended to celebrate our tribal narrative from our own voices. We highlight the inductees through social media and our Facebook page, with all positive narratives. Countering negativity and jealousy seen so often. Indian athletic hardship turned into a celebration of accomplishments. Communities joined to cheer them on and reinforced a narrative of resilience that had not existed before. The MIAHOF Facebook page grew as we began to highlight our Native Youth along with the Legendary Athletes. We share their accomplishments and success through photos and stories of excellence from the young to the old and celebrate people while they are still here. If they pass on, we focus on their legacy for the world to know.
Media, music, and cultural celebrations have been established within Identity Inc. Passion projects for the soul. Our biggest effort has been our film project, “The Undefeated“, showcasing our strength and the importance of athletics directly connected to our traditional warrior spirit and teachings. We’ve also finalized a Native Female Hip Hop project to lift those talents as they tie it to their Indigenous values and language. This is only the beginning as we gain more support and partnership to bring the beauty and strength of our people to the world.
