The Hall of Fame began as the vision of Don Wetzel Sr. and came to life with the help of his son, Donnie Jr., who helped build its early organization and foundation. Together, they sparked something that has grown far beyond anything either of them could have imagined.
Our first induction ceremony was in 2007, and ever since, these gatherings have grown in both reach and impact. Storytelling preserves our legacy, and our athletes, the modern warriors who deserve to be heard. The MIAHOF has become a source of pride, lifting the Native sports narrative through our own voices. Not an outside looking in. Through social media and our active MIAHOF Facebook page, we honor legendary athletes and rising Native youth alike, countering negativity with hope, pride, and dignity. We share the stories and images of Indian excellence, celebrating our people in life and legacy.
Recognized by the Montana Indian Athletic Hall of Fame—individuals inducted not for athletic competition but for their vital roles in promoting indigenous culture, leadership, and community advancement:
Honors Native American individuals who have demonstrated exceptional athletic ability, sportsmanship, and achievement in competitive sports.
Teams that have made lasting impacts in their communities and across Montana by showcasing the power of collaboration, pride, and cultural strength in sports.
These coaching inductees have shaped the lives of countless athletes, instilling discipline, teamwork, and cultural pride both on and off the field.
